Summer is my absolute favorite time of year. I am a warm weather girl and I will deal with heat over icy temps any day. But the one thing that is not fun about summer heat is dehydration. Most of us walk around in a moderately dehydrated state and this can lead to severe dehydration when you combine high temps and physical exertion. Know the signs…dry skin, rapid heartbeat, dark yellow urine, confusion, headache, fainting. And be sure you drink 1/2 your weight in oz of water each day AND rehydrate after every workout.
My MC FIT Watermelon Lime Smoothie is the perfect way to refuel post workout. The 3 main ingredients are watermelon (duh), chia seeds and coconut milk. All 3 are rockstars at keeping us hydrated. Watermelon contains 92% water, muscle replenishing glycogen and heart healthy lycopene. Chia seeds can absorb 30x their weight in water, which means they help us retain electrolytes longer. Coconut Milk is high in potassium an electrolyte that our body needs to help regulate fluid balance & heart rhythm.

1/2 C Coconut Milk
1/2 C So Delicious Unsweetened Vanilla Coconut Yogurt
1 Scoop Vega Sport Vanilla Protein Powder
1 C Watermelon
1/4 Lime, Peeled
1 T Chia Seeds
1 C Organic Fresh Greens (optional)
1 C Crushed Ice
Blend until smooth and creamy. Enjoy 30 minutes post workout.
